Arizona defensive lineman-fullback Taimi Tutogi and Washington junior linebacker Thomas Tutogi got a rare chance for two brothers to meet on the gridiron when the Wildcats and Huskies hooked up in a Pac-12 contest Oct. 20 in Tucson. Arizona came out victorious 52-17.
But neither team was finished there.
The Wildcats defeated Nevada-Reno, 49-48, to win the Gildan New Mexico Bowl on Dec. 15 while the Huskies came out on the short end of a 28-26 score to Mountain West Conference co-champion Boise State in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 22.
Both Taimi and Thomas Tutogi are graduates of Chula Vista High School.
Taimi Tutogi (6-1, 260) is being touted as a top fullback and special teams player among selections for the upcoming NFL Draft.
A two-way player his senior year at Arizona, Tutogi collected five tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, one sack and one fumble recovery.
He is one of three Wildcats selected to play in the Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game in Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 11.
Thomas Tutogi appeared in 13 games for Washington this season while amassing 42 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one sack and one fumble recovery.
