Special education teacher arraigned

Loren McDonald, a special education teacher at Olympian High School, was arraigned and charged yesterday, May 8, with two counts of oral copulation/sexual penetration with a child 10-years old or younger; five counts of lewd acts on a child; and one count of attempting to dissuade a witness from reporting a crime.

McDonald was in his first year of teaching at Olympian High School and was still in his probationary period, said Manny Rubio, director of grants and commissions for the Sweetwater High School District.

The San Diego Police Department arrested McDonald at Olympic High School on May 6.

McDonald’s readiness conference is scheduled for May 16 with a preliminary exam on May 21.

His bail is set at $2 million.
