If you thought history’s Lions versus Christians was good entertainment, you would have loved to see the Lady Jaguars completely dominate the shorter, slower San Diego Mesa Olympians on Wednesday.
Southwestern led 26-12, at halftime behind Alexis Harris’ 13 points, which featured three three-pointers from behind the arc. Harris finished with 18.
Mesa coach Michael Hootner tried every combination and every play in his book, but to no avail. SWC coach Darnell Cherry utilized a full-court press that limited Mesa to a single point during the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Southwestern’s Chelsea Ball scored 14 while Mesa’s Whitney Shirley bagged 11 in the losing effort. Mesa’s record slipped to 4-14 while Southwestern climbed over the .500 mark to 11-10.
