Plenty of activities in store for young goblins and ghoulies

The South Bay will have plenty of Halloween fun for trick-or-treaters.

Go trick-or-treating from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Village Walk at Eastlake and EastLake Village Marketplace.

Children 12 and younger who are dressed in costume and accompanied by an adult, need to stop by the regisration table to pick up a free Halloween bag filled with treats from participating merchants.

“The Halloween event at Village Walk and Eastlake Village Marketplace has become a tradition for families in Eastlake and Chula Vista,” said Dianna Lewis, property manager of both shopping centers. “It offers a fun, festive atmosphere for children to wear their costumes and enjoy trick-or-treating from one business to the next.”

In addition to the free Halloween treats, Sporty the mascot from Sport Clips at Village Walk will be on hand to welcome children.

During the event, Premier Dental Care at EastLake Village Marketplace will feature a clown with free face painting and balloons.

Village Walk at Eastlake and Eastlake Village Marketplace are situated next to one another.  EastLake Village Marketplace is located on the corner of Otay Lakes Road and EastLake Parkway  and Village Walk at EastLake is located on Eastlake Parkway and Miller Drive.

The National City Fire Fighters Association Local 2744, in conjunction with the city of National City, will host the 10th annual Tower of Terror event at 5 p.m. to 9.p.m.  on Halloween night.

National City firefighters will take trick-or-treaters through torture chambers, zombie attacks and other Halloween themed activities.

Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to come dressed in their costume to enter the community service’s all-ages costume contest with prizes being awarded every 30 minutes throughout the event. There will also be arts and crafts, a bounce house and giant yard games.

“The mission of it is essentially to do a free event that’s safe and fun for the neighborhood and the community,” said James Stiles, a National City Fire Captain and vice president of the National City Fire Fighters Assocation Local 2744.

“It’s  kind of a broad Halloween Carnival/Haunted House event that is just designed to give the people a place to go on Halloween night.”

For those who do not celebrate Halloween but want an alternative, Bonita Valley Community Church will host its annual Trick Or Trunk event on Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 4744 Bonita Road.

There will be lots of candy as well as food trucks, a mechanical riding bull and prizes. Participating cars will open their candy filled trunks for trick-or-treaters.

Need to get a last minute pumpkin? The National City Pumpkin station will remain open through Oct. 31. The pumpkin patch also has activities for the families such as mini slides, games, a play center and a petting Zoo. The pumpkin patch is located outside the Plaza Bonita Mall parking lot at 3030 Plaza Bonita Road.
