Party of the century will have fireworks

Chula Vista will be celebrating its 100th birthday Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Olympic Training Center.

This celebration will commemorate Chula Vista’s yearlong centennial activities.

“The Olympic Training Center is a wonderful attraction,” Mayor Cheryl Cox said. “Few people have the opportunity to spend time there.”

Guests can enjoy musical performances throughout the day including Chula Vista’s own P.O.D. which will be headlining. The Grammy-nominated rock group is set to perform at 8:15 p.m. after the fireworks show. Other performing artists include Pink Army, Sirens Crush and Rockola.

For those who are 21 and older, there will be a Twist of Lemon tasting area. The tasting area will host more than 20 restaurants featuring entrees, cocktails and desserts with a lemon theme. Tickets for the tasting area are $25 prior to the event, $30 the day of.

The Centennial Milestone Path will give guests the chance to learn about Chula Vista’s history. Guests can also check out a vintage car show, eat and shop from local art vendors.

A free shuttle will be provided for guests who park at the Otay Ranch Town Center. General parking across from the Olympic Training Center is $5.
