The Olympian Eagles will get a clearer picture of where they stack up in the San Diego Section’s Division III rankings when they host likewise unbeaten Point Loma Friday at 7 p.m.
The Pointers are coming off a 21-7 season opening victory against visiting Mar Vista on Saturday; the Eagles shut out host Hilltop, 28-0, in another non-league contest last Friday.
Sergio Bailey caught five passes for 163 yards, among them a 55-yard touchdown bomb in the fourth quarter from quarterback Christopher Humphrey, to spark reigning Metro-Mesa League champion Olympian to its shutout victory.
The Eagles blew open a tight 7-0 game at halftime with two third quarter TDs. James Curry recovered a fumble in the end zone while, three plays later, Christein Humphrey, Christopher’s twin brother, returned an intercepted pass 43 yards for a score.
Olympian’s Benito Montano was credited with the only touchdown of the first half.
Hilltop’s Daniel Sanchez passed for 54 yards, completing nine of 21 attempts. The Lancers generated 124 yards in rushing offense, led by Drake Madarang (four carries, 69 yards).
Hilltop next plays at Patrick Henry — a 34-0 victor last Friday against San Ysidro.
