No bail for flight risk

A federal judge has ruled that Christopher Boyd Cutcliff, 42, of National City, be held without bail as he is “a serious flight risk” after being charged with robbing a credit union in National City of $1,650.

Cutcliff has pleaded not guilty to the lone bank robbery charge which alleges he held up the Point Loma Credit Union at 3003 Highland Ave. on June 11.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office sought the detainment without bail which was ordered by U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge William Gallo.

The FBI asked for the public’s help in catching Cutcliff on June 18 and released a photo of him for broadcast and print. On June 20, Cutcliff was spotted at 1 a.m. in the 3800 block of Rosecrans Street, and was arrested by agents from the FBI, U.S. Marshal, and San Diego police.

The FBI did not explain why they suspected Cutcliff of the hold-up, but a judge had issued a warrant for his arrest.

The photo they released was not taken at the credit union. His next hearing is set for Aug. 9.

Cutcliff remains without bail in the Metropolitan Correctional Center.
