Man who had fake ID released

An identify theft suspect was sentenced Sept. 10 to one year in jail after pleading guilty to five charges including commercial burglary, forgery, and getting his girlfriend’s son to steal clothing from a National City department store.

The sheriff’s department says the projected release from jail for Julio Cesar Karger, 36, is Nov. 15. Karger received credits of serving 145 days in jail from Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Theodore Weathers.

Deputy District Attorney Ted Minahan said Karger pleaded guilty to two counts of identity theft, forgery of someone’s driver’s license, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The latter charge occurred when Karger told his girlfriend’s son to steal clothing from the J.C. Penney’s store in Nov., 2012, added Minahan.

The boy and his mother were detained but Karger drove away.

Karger was placed on three years probation and was ordered to pay some court fines. He was arrested by National City Police on June 18.
