Whether for team bonding or employee recognition, all companies have internal get-togethers to toot their own horn. And why not when food is usually involved.
The Star-News family might not be as large as some businesses in the South County, but everyone here takes pride in their work and, well, it’s all for our readers.
During a recent off-deadline Friday afternoon, we had a chance to sample a business lunch menu package courtesy of HoneyBaked’s specialty foods, catering and cafÈ division. HoneyBaked — yes, that HoneyBaked—has been serving up delicious meat dishes with all the trimmings since 1957 and has a local outlet conveniently located in Terra Nova Plaza.
We can vouch for the top quality product delivered to our door.
The lunchtime menu selections are varied and priced according to size of the party, starting with its bite size dessert platter ($22.49) and going up with its signature sandwich platter ($46), complete meal package ($113) and VIP buffet ($120).
The dessert platter features fresh-baked cookies and assorted chocolate brownies and serves 15 to 20 individuals. The sandwich platter includes an assortment of handcrafted sandwiches with chips and serves eight to 10 people.
The complete meal package includes the sandwich platter, chips, choice of homestyle sides, assorted dessert tray, pickle spears and tea or lemonade. It also serves eight to 10 individuals.
The VIP buffet serves 10 to 15 people and features HoneyBaked’s signature meat platter (choice of ham, roasted or smoked turkey and roast beef), Cheddar and Swiss cheese, crisp lettuce, ripe tomato slices, assorted breads, pickle spears, choice of homestyle sides or chips and fresh-baked cookies. The spread comes with regular mayonnaise, mustard and a mixture of unique sandwich spreads on the side that allows everyone the option of creating their own custom sandwich.
Besides the platter options, several salad bowl combinations also are available, including the grilled chicken caesar, cobb salad and fresh garden salad bowls. Dressings include ranch, bleu cheese, Italian, Thousand Island and caesar. Prices range from $14 to $18 and each serves approximately six individuals.
Want something a bit more individualized? HoneyBaked’s box lunches range from $6.75 to $7.75. Included in each box lunch are a sandwich, chips and fresh-baked cookie. Choices include ham, turkey, roast beef, Hawaiian ham, ham salad, chicken salad, Mediterranean veggie, turkey bacon and mixed meats.
There are also personalized salad boxed lunches at $7.59 each. All are easy to order.
Individual beverages are $1.49.
With a group of people, everyone will have their specific tastes or cannot eat list. One of our staff was recently diagnosed with high blood sugar and high cholesterol and was a bit apprehensive of not being able to share in the luncheon with other employees. Rest assured, that person found plenty to eat.
The garden salad was quite tasty with the oil dressing and the lean turkey (without the bread) was an exciting palate pick-me-upper.
HoneyBaked also offers a variety of other options for office gatherings such as a mini croissant tray, cocktail sandwich tray, sandwich starter tray, fixin’s tray, bread tray, deluxe hors d’oeuvres, fruit and veggie platters. All range from $17 to $71.50 depending on the number of individuals to be served.
Desserts are designed to serve six to eight people and range in price from $14.99 (most) to $28.49. They include cheesecake, carrot cake and a variety of eight cookies.
There are discounts on delivery for first-time orders.
