Ex-boss IDs stabber

An Aug. 7 trial date was set on June 18 for Brandon Ancho who is accused of attempting to kill a former employer in Chula Vista.

A charge of pre-meditated attempted murder has been filed against Ancho, 36, of Spring Valley, which could lead to a life sentence in prison if he is convicted, said Deputy District Attorney Matthew Williams.

Julian Cruz identified Ancho as the man who stabbed him on Feb. 1 in the 300 block of East James Street in Chula Vista. Cruz testified in the June 4 preliminary hearing before Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Theodore Weathers.
Ancho confronted Cruz after walking through an unlocked front door after arguing with him about his former employment. He pulled a knife out and allegedly stabbed Cruz in the abdomen and chest. Ancho also reportedly tried to stab a woman but fled the scene.

Ancho was arrested two days later outside his parents’ residence in Spring Valley which is near where he lived. The San Diego Fugitive Task Force arrested him in the 2400 block of Double Tree Road in Spring Valley.
He was also ordered to stand trial for a second attempted murder charge, two counts of felony assault and burglary.

He has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail on $2 million bail.
