Boyfriend sent to prison for murder

In a packed courtroom, a judge sentenced Larry W. Brown, 47, in late March to nearly 34 years to life in state prison for killing his girlfriend, Vickie Jo Hunter, 52, and setting her Chula Vista mobile home on fire in 2006.
Friends and family members of Hunter heard Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Timothy Walsh impose 25 years to life for the murder plus eight years for the arson which occurred on Dec. 6, 2006. Walsh added eight months consecutively for Brown’s evading California Highway Patrol officers in the victim’s car two days later.
Deputy District Attorney Claudine Ruiz said Brown received the maximum sentence. Walsh also imposed a $10,000 fine and gave him credit for serving 1,203 days in jail.
