Bank robber fined, sent to prison

Christopher Boyd Cutcliff, 43, of National City, has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for holding up the Point Loma Credit Union at 3003 Highland Ave. in National City on June 11, 2010.

U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Whelan ordered Cutcliff to pay $1,650 to the credit union and a $100 penalty assessment fee on Jan. 18. Cutcliff pleaded guilty Aug. 26 to the charge. He will be given credit for seven months spent at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

His attorney, Jennifer Coon, sought a 30-month sentence. Cutcliff was homeless and on “a cocaine binge,” at the time of the robbery, she said.
