TED: in response to question regarding - "what is it going to take?" it is going to take all of us getting off of our behinds and walking door to door, sitting at supermarkets, setting up booths at all events collecting signatures for the RECALL. it is also going to take voting quinones OUT OF OFFICE - why any rational person would even think to run while they were under indictment is beyond my comprehension, but, dummy me this is pearl quinones we are talking about - if she chose not to run she would have to give back all of those $99 campaign contributions she received at her birthday bash. and what other campaign contributions has she received? soon we will know.

vendors/contractors, i am surmising will be most reluctant to have their business names associated with ANY one under indictment or facing recall. and rightfully so.

When elected officials look out for their interest before the interest of their constituents they must be removed from the leadership position that they were elected to fulfill. I believe that all elected officials should be limited to two terms as the President of the country is held to. I cannot believe that our school board is looked upon as a criminal empire. People have angrily referred to them as the Mexican Mafia, Pilipino Mafia, and the Aryan Brotherhood. What does that tell you!
Now, Dr. Brand was let go from the Sweetwater District a number of years ago because of his poor leadership and he was also let go from his position as superintendent from the San Marcos School District for the same reason and you bring him back! Why? What is it going to take for the Sweetwater District to learn from its past mistakes!

the star news' june poll "is sweetwater union high school district president john mccann effective in guiding the school board" 86% replied NO!

one would have thought that he and entire board would have taken pause to evaluate their decision making and voting practices - it is obvious they ignored the community and continued on the alleged pay to play path. campaign contributions were received by board members AFTER they won their seats, i.e.paul bunton (recent guilty plea) donated monies to john mccann to help him pay off his outstanding campaign debt. mr. mccann is not the only board member who received monies from contractors and others AFTER THEY HAD WON THEIR SEATS. and my question remains WHY, WHY would these companies care about a school board members campaign debt??????????

while all persons are innocent until proven guilty a review of the affidavits clearly indicates many poor decisions were made, and in my opinion those decisions (votes) appear to have been for self gain i.e. nothing like those thousands of dollars in campaign contributions which can be confirmed by going to registrar of voters web site. if you take the time to do so - try matching the names of the contributor with the search warrants and recent guilty pleas.

when a community member asked for campaign donation reform using proper protocol, they all sat there and failed to even raise it for discussion, well i believe that about sums it up.

just my humble opinion

Integrity is the cornerstone of professionalism and should be a guiding light for all students. It is pretty deplorable when those elected act without integrity. I have read the entire indictment against the board members and in my opinion they are innocent until proven otherwise in a courtroom. HOWEVER, just the fact they would have participated in these activities or taken donations from contracted individuals makes one question their integrity. The implications are pretty appalling. Innocent or guilty I have no faith or respect for them. There has been more scandal under their leadership then all the other 39 years I have lived in Chula Vista added together. Sad, sad, sad!

These people have consistently made decisions that are not in the best interests of students . This community deserves better representation.

This Board of Trustees has violated many ethical standards that they are held in contempt by everyone who is paying attention.

Superintendent Brand, instead of cleaning things up, has made things worse--with irresponsible promises, spending and not facing up to the problems at hand.

This assortment of inept and corrupt personages needs to realize that their time is up, they need to go. We need people who actually care about education, community building and ethical actions.

Even with the increased pressure from the community this board doesn't seem to care. Pearl is refusing to provide a larger venue for the teachers to express their pain at losing their jobs. I find that cruel. For a while there it looked as if she was starting to get it. But I guess it was just an act. My heart goes out to the pink slipped staff. No one cares other than Lopez that this is a tragic time for all SUHS staff. At a time like this you need people to at least pretend that they care. Very selfish!

Either there is something flawed in the poll or in this community's thinking - as of 8 AM on May 5th 52% opposes a recall?! Yikes!!

It's time for new leadership!!!!!! Once trust has been broken, it's hard to believe in them. Everyone is given a level of trust and when that trust is violated by the games, the deceit, the lies, the betrayal and most of all "stealing", it's hard to trust again. It can be done, but who has the time to wait! Our kids education are in their hands and each year we wait, is another year our kids go without good leadership! Get them out NOW!
