Xolos get first win at home Jose Guzman | Wed, Jul 31 2013 05:22 PM

In a rare Tuesday night game  Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente defeated Pachuca F.C. with a lone goal from forward Diego Olsina.

The match ended 1-0 although the Xolos fought hard for a second goal throughout the game but were unsuccessful.

The Xolos provided most of the offensive action while the visitors seemed content to wait in their own half and rely on counter attacks.

In the second half, the Xolos finally found the opponent’s net. In the 49th minute Olsina received a pass from Fidel Martinez who easily beat the goalkeeper.

Xolos coach Jorge Almiron said that this victory helps as his team will continue growing and this gives them back its confidence after their last home game.

“We needed a victory at home. Today we needed to win under all circumstances and the team understood that, and left everything in the field,” he said. “We had a lot of chances and at the end the opponent came at us with everything they had. We ended the game suffering and fighting but we also had a few plays at the end to finish off our opponent.”

The Xolos next opponent is Morelia in an away game in week four of the Liga MX. Currently the team has a 1-1-0 record. Their week two game against America was reschedule for Oct 1.
