A former Chula Vista substitute teacher has pleaded guilty to receiving images of minors in sexually explicit conduct on his home computer.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Alessandra Serano has recommended that Alejandro Castillo Jr., 35, of Chula Vista, receive 10 years in federal prison at his sentencing on Feb. 1, 2016.
Castillo worked for the Chula Vista Elementary School District and also for the YMCA, according to the prosecutor. The maximum sentence is 20 years in prison.
Serano said Castillo used a file-sharing program online to trade child pornography with other users.
Court records say one boy featured in the images that Castillo viewed is requesting restitution for damages.
Castillo isn’t suspected of taking any pictures but only of receiving such images on his computer.
