PRIDE festival set for next weekend

Show your pride at the 10th annual South Bay Pride Art and Music Festival from Noon to 7 p.m. on Sept. 9 at Chula Vista’s Bayside Park, 999 Bayside Parkway.

This year’s Pride will have everything for everyone, from live bands, dancing,  two gourmet food trucks, beverages and cocktails to arts. Musical guests include Divas Night Out starring Peaches,  The Social Animal, HoocH, Funk Shui Planet, Ingenue and Debby Holiday will wrap up the event.

New this year is a special Chula Vista Kayak Tour that launches from the festival  at a special price of $12 per person.

Attendees will also enjoy a free standup paddleboard yoga demonstration. Bike enthusiast get to bicycle along a route during the South Bay Pride festival.  There are also activities for children such as face painting and they will get to play on a playground.

Last year’s event drew about 5,000 attendees.

The event is annually hosted by the South Bay Alliance, a non-profit that builds a coalition of the LGBT community and allies for social networking, business promotion and political awareness in the South Bay and northern Baja California.
