One woman, two trials

A June 7 trial date has been set for a woman accused of stabbing her sister’s boyfriend in National City. A June 13 trial date has been set on a separate murder case in San Diego.

Christina Maria Daniel, 32, is accused of stabbing both victims in separate incidents. Antonio Garcia, 42 was injured on Nov. 26, 2015, after a dispute with Daniel’s sister who was attempting to move out.

Daniel and Marco Antonio Gutierrez, 30, showed up at the National City residence and broke inside. Garcia tried to flee, but was hit on the head with a pipe by Gutierrez before he was stabbed four times by Daniel, according to court records.

Garcia was stabbed in the head, back, abdomen, and hand. He lost consciousness. Daniel’s sister and others then removed her belongings. Garcia called 911 and was taken to a hospital.

Daniel was a fugitive on this case when she allegedly stabbed Jasmine Ruiz, 29, who was found April 20, 2016 in an alley of 4100 Wilson Street in San Diego. Ruiz died at the scene and was believed to have also been struck by a car.
Daniel was arrested April 26, 2016, along with Gutierrez, who is suspected of being the getaway driver. Gutierrez is charged with hit and run in a traffic fatality and with assault with a deadly weapon in San Diego Superior Court.

Daniel and her attorney agreed to stand trial in Chula Vista Superior Court without having a preliminary hearing. Daniel has previously been convicted of carjacking, auto theft, and grand theft, court records say.

Daniel and Gutierrez have pleaded not guilty. Daniel remains in the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility without bail.
