Man accused of killing his mother also admits drug possession

A Chula Vista man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2008 stabbing death of Francisca Ramos, his 77-year-old mother in the home she shared with her son.

George Moises Ramos, 46, also admitted to using a knife in the Oct. 25, 2008, stabbing, which adds one year to the 15 years to life sentence.

Additionally, Ramos pleaded guilty to obstructing a police officer in an incident several weeks before the murder. The officer was slightly injured. Ramos also pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a drug, and possession of illegal drugs.

These other charges will add four years consecutively.

Ramos is expected to receive a total term of 20 years to life in prison, said Deputy District Attorney Enrique Camarena.

Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Ed Allard III set sentencing for Jan. 15, 2014. Ramos remains in jail without bail.

The incident took place on Oct. 25, 2008 in the victim’s home on Tamarack Court near Olive Avenue in Chula Vista. One of the victim’s daughters found her mother’s body around 5:45 p.m. and called police. A broken broomstick was found on the floor.

Ramos was quoted at the time as saying his deceased father had “come to him” in some way and told him to “send her to him” in heaven, according to testimony in the preliminary hearing in 2009. Ramos was attempting to leave the residence before Chula Vista Police officers arrested him.
