Guilty after second trial

An armed robber faces 30 years in prison after a jury convicted him of holding up six South Bay businesses in 2011. A second man was convicted of two robberies and faces up to seven years.

After two trials, Lukmond Wade Muhammad, 25, was found guilty of 35 felony counts that include robbery and burglary in a spree that also included multiple hold-ups at eight other stores in San Diego County.

Anthony Dwayne Bolden, 25, was convicted of two robberies, burglary and conspiracy at the Footaction USA store on Broadway in Chula Vista that took place in December 2011. Bolden wasn’t charged with the other robberies.

Both men will be sentenced June 21 in Chula Vista Superior Court. Judge Edward Allard III will sentence Muhammad; Judge Ana Espana will sentence Bolden. They have been in jail since their December 2011 arrests by Chula Vista and San Diego police with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Muhammad was convicted on May 14 of robbing Chula Vista businesses which included Pizza Hut, Sprint and the Footaction store along with an Auto Zone store in National City and a motel in San Ysidro, said Deputy District Attorney David Grapilon.
