Early morning killer gets 18 in prison

Francisco Jose Arellano, 33, of Chula Vista, has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of an intoxicated man and will be receiving an 18-year prison term on Oct. 17.

The victim, Michael “Gabe” Hallmann, 34, suffered head injuries and was stabbed several times.

He was found next to a fence in the front yard of Nicole Anna Ibarra, 37, in the Chollas Creek area of San Diego.
Ibarra, also known as Nicole Olmos, called Arellano and Michael Vincent Reyes, 31, of El Cajon, and asked for their help at 4 a.m. in dealing with Hallmann’s intoxication at her residence. Both Ibarra and Reyes also pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter; a murder charge was dropped against all three people.

Court documents show Reyes will also get an 18-year term, but Ibarra will get a three-year prison term.
Both Arellano and Reyes will have to serve 85 percent of their term, which would be 15 years and three months.
