Clean up your green act Special To The Star-news | Sat, Dec 24 2011 12:00 PM

The city of Chula Vista’s Conservation, Storm Water and Environmental Services Sections administer the CLEAN Business Program, a program that empowers businesses of all sizes to make simple environmental changes that can translate into cost savings. The CLEAN Business Program is celebrating more than 100 Chula Vista CLEAN Businesses.
As part of the CLEAN Business Program, the city has partnered with ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability and Office Depot to initiate a Green Business Challenge. This will be a fun, friendly year-long competition that begins in January 2012; it aims to engage Chula Vista businesses in a challenge to reduce their energy, waste, and water use while participating in other sustainable business practices.
At the end of the year, participants will be given a final score based upon how much they improved their “green” practices throughout the year. Participants will be recognized at a year-end awards ceremony.
To become a Chula Vista CLEAN Business and sign up for the Green Business Challenge,  visit www.chulavistaca.gov/clean and click on the Green Business Challenge to get started or give the city a call at (619) 409-1975.
