Carjacker must pay

A carjacker who stole a Toyota Corolla at knifepoint while the driver was stopped at a traffic light on Broadway at H Street in Chula Vista at night has been sentenced to six years in state prison.

Alejandro Ruby Nava, 36, was ordered to pay $48 to the motorist who lost that amount in cash in her purse, which was recovered along with the car in the Oct. 9, 2011, incident.
Deputy District Attorney Michael MacNeil asked for the six-year term from Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Francis Devaney.

The judge imposed five years for the carjacking plus one year consecutively for using a knife in a violent crime.
Nava pleaded guilty to carjacking. His attorney asked for four years.
