Super Bowl XLVI is Sunday and local businesses are getting ready for the big day.
"It's interesting for us," said Tony Raso, owner of La Bella’s. "It's kind of a 1, 2, 3 escalating punch."
For La Bella’s Pizzeria in Chula Vista, preparations for the big game start a few days before Sunday.
“What happens is that not only do we get busiest first, but we get people who call ahead. The phone calls start that morning, or the night before because they [customers] try and put together a menu for their event,” said Raso.
La Bella’s will run specials on their domestic draft beer pitcherd, originally $9, but on Sunday the price will be $7.50.
“We accommodate our guests with what they want, good wings, pizza, and beer,” said Raso.
The Brew House at Eastlake has also been preparing for Sunday.
“We’ve got 16 plasma screens and we will show the game with all the pregame activities,” said owner Doug Chase.
The tailgate party at the Brew House will offer many specials including $5 cheeseburger, pulled pork sandwich, personal pizza, bacon-wrapped dog, basket of fries, sweet fries and onion rings; $2 fish tacos, chicken tacos and carnitas tacos; $4 on the house beer and Bud Light pints; $5 Brew House bloody Mary’s, margaritas and Amate tequila.
According to Chase, there is a much larger crowd on football days than any other day.
“We have a full menu, a complete bar and a family friendly atmosphere,” said Chase. “You can leave all the work up to us. People can socialize and not have to worry about making sure the food is warm and the drinks are cold; we do it all for them.”
Super Bowl XLVI will air on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 p.m. on NBC as the New York Giants take on the New England Patriots.
