Bail increased for alleged robbers

Bail was increased to $1 million for two men after they were ordered to stand trial for allegedly robbing an auto parts store on Paradise Valley Road at gunpoint with one of them raping a woman.

The two men are accused of going into an Auto Zone store just east of National City on Sept. 5, 2011, with handguns and robbing the store and an employee. Both men are charged with false imprisonment and carjacking of a teenager on the street afterward.

Adrian Osuna Avena, 26, is accused of raping a woman during the incident. Juan Pablo Perez, 34, and Avena are also accused of felony assault and evading police officers after the hold-up, court records say. San Diego police officers arrested them hours later.

San Diego Superior Court Judge Fred Link set a trial date for May 14 after their preliminary.
