National City will only be a city of compassion once the government allows a LGTB bar in the city. We need the government to be more transparent and have more democrats on the city council.

ALL TEACHERS DESERVE A FAIR CONTRACT. It's not fair what is happening at this school.

The author forgot to mention that MAAC administrators fired the first three teachers that began unionizing at the school, without cause. The author makes it seem like the teachers are unwilling to work with MAAC negotiators because impasse was declared after looking at 4 counter proposals. How may counter proposals had the MAAC negoiators declined previously? Quite a lot. Impasse is not declared willy nilly. There are rules that have to be followed. The teachers working to gain a contract have followed the rules. The school's negotiating team has not. That is why impasse was declared. The Sweetwater District, through which the MAAC Charter contracts, already had long standing alternative schools when MAAC was formed. They are Options Secondary School, and Palomar. Get your facts straight.

Hey unionprez(I highly doubt you are a union president based on your commnt), union strong and students first are not mutually exclusive. They are the same thing.

So what is it MAAC staff? Is it union strong? Or is it students first?

We are praying for you Mr. Gastelum. Praying that you will succeed amongst all the hate against you. Keep being you! We support Gastelum!

I will not sign a recall petition

Gastelum doesn't have integrity, and is a poor role model. He shouldn't be associated with the public sector on any level. The public deserves way better then his bigoted, and arrogant behavior.

It's shamed, the destroying our beautiful heritage for greed. Our children wount have the family picked berry's on their short cake, cereal, or ice creams with grandma. They will go to new mall with friends we don't even trust. Not a Rockwell ,is it.

Good for the city. When will this happen in our school districts? Can that be next? Look at Kaiser and sharp. Medical institutions don't have unions. Cox cable doesn't have a union. Nice one National city teachers association. About lying about the raid. The kid himself told the truth and your union lied about the situation which made it worse for the kid. Unions cause problems and do not hold the weak workers accountable
