I am a little behind on my reading, but try not to miss Tom's column....Another well written story on the 'old days'. Great story!

Time to move up with the "Big Boys. "The Bowl game's are nice but I think SWC is ready for the Riversides and Mt.Sac's and the rest of the top JC teams in the state. The last 3 years have been a joy but if I was the top man I'd move on, what do you got to lose and so much to gain!! Think STATE CHAMPIONSHIP! Going by the last 3 years you've got the athletes'. Do we have the coaching and the desire? Just saying....

Frist off I'm proud of the kid's on the Su-Hi football team. 10-1 is a good season no matter what. What I'm writing about today is why doesn't Su-Hi schedule tougher games so they will be ready for the play-offs or is it that important to have a outstanding record and not be battle tested? If you want to win in the play-offs, "where it counts" do like the Eastlakes' and the Oceanside's and play the toughest schedule possible, why would you schedule Crawford or Southwest and the other small schools?, when you must know that when play-off time comes around you are not going to be ready! first off you say "There's not much you can do if the team across from you is much faster and much bigger." I disagree! Quit playing powder puffs and schedule tougher games especially if you know that the league you play in is weak, the only way your team can get tested is to up grade your non league games, what's to gain by beating up the little teams if everyone that knows this game knows it's going to be 1 and out for the Devils because they play no one!that's a mistake I see lot's of teams making and let's not talk about last years team,D-4 was a weaker league then your Pacific league!!! I'm just saying that the play-offs is the name of the game and getting there was easy this year, if you want to win play the Big Boys and see where you stand then when the play-off comes at least you'll be tested. Something to think about Coach Hay.

The police "family" isn't the only one that has misplaced its camaraderie over the years. My old office, too, went from fielding several sports teams to not even sponsoring a summer picnic. The annual holiday party declined from a dinner dance to a nice lunch out to a potluck to a single tray of cookies in the break room. We used to honor those retiring with great get-togethers at interesting venues; now, people prefer to slide out the door without even a good-bye. Some "family" huh?

Wow! I learn something new every day! Do you think that movie depictions romanticize these relationships and thus give erroneous ideas to the weak of heart/brain?

So if I am reading the article correctly Mr. McCann just got up to take a phone call and never went back. Just left Dr. Glover sitting there all by himself? Mr. McCann never went back in the restaurant to apologize for his rudeness? He just got in his car and drove away, knowing that Dr. Glover was still inside since they parked next to each other he had to know he was still inside. Most people would have gone it to at least apologize for leaving a meeting to take a phone call. Also, if he thought he was going to be hit by a car wouldnt you go for a friend and tell him your ordeal, Dr Glover was about 1000 feet away yet Mr. McCann didnt do that probably because it wasnt true.

John McCann is a loose cannon! He is a crybaby and throws temper tantrums. He lies and denies. He doesn't know reality. He lives in his own little bubble. I'll tell you if he doesn't remember hitting the truck, dropping his phone or throwing rocks. This is more of a red flag that he needs to be evaluated for mental stability. I mean maybe he still has a bump on his head from that accident. He is just so irrational that his actions just scare me.

Sorry to say I wish McCann had hit O'Neils truck with the rock because John would have had to pay the consequences for his irrational behavior. This guy is constantly in a problem of some sort with someone.eventually he will get caught. If he had hit the truck with the rock a felony maybe,we wouldn't have to worry about him taking office of any type. What about the call to the police a constant habit of McCann that we pay for. I understand there is a penal code in place to prevent him from doing this especially since he won't sign a complaint form. Maybe the City of Chula Vista should get involved. But then John would claim it was to prevent him from getting into office. Another conspiracy against him. It's scary I'm beginning to think he actually believes his own crap.

Perhaps the So Bay community might ask for a medical/mental evaluation of both candidates before the seat is given to either of them. The last thing Chula Vista needs is a City Council member that cracks under stress.

Wouldn't you have loved to be in the squad room after hours that night 'Yep, McCann was at it again - how many times has he called for backup over trivial bs?' Question is why hasn't Chief of Police or Mayor sat him down and put him in his place - 'John, Chula Vista's finest are not here for your beckon call - trust me, you are no more important than the community member facing a REAL crisis - so do us a favor KNOCK IT THE HELL OFF and grow the hell up'!!!!!'

just my opinion

I am hoping that the city of Chula Vista will work with reputable institutions of higher learning, not the kind that exist to take the most money possible from the students and the taxpayers. Keep the 'for-profit' bunch out of this, and make sure the schools and programs that become a part of this effort are truly there for the students, not their own bottom line.

sosocal Says:

Dr. Glover might well be wondering what and who he has gotten mixed up with. Why is there so much aberrant behavior surrounding John McCann?
