Ms. Brinkman - so,,,,, weigh in - do you, like I, believe a certain someone has taken on a false identity of a READER reporter. Guess there is something to be said about being willing to stand behind ones comments by identifying themselves. To quote a dear friend - HAVE A GOOD ONE!!!!!
Fran Brinkman Says:
Elevation, If I'm wrong a big sorry to you. I thought you were referring to the current mess that people from the district are now facing because of a previous administrator and the Charter School our district is involved in,that's a mess. So please enlighten me as to what article in the paper in the past that backs up your comments. Mrs. Lopez is on a committee not an elected board member, this was an error on the part of the reporter in this article. The facts presented are not correct.
16 people eh? The lawsuit only has 8. However if one or more defendants throw other people not on the suit under the bus (hmmm which defendant would do that?), then yes the number would climb.
Wonder if a story could come out about the hypocrisy of her fighting to stop a charter because of her strong allegiance with the Union. Got pics of her at that meeting :-))) Awww yeaaahh
Bertha, anytime you want to do another story, let us know first! We love you!
What specific piece of information did I post that was untrue? I know. I knew back in February-March of 2014 when the union tribune and star news first reported this.
Bertha has supported the community and South Bay students for many years. If the court doesn't care why should I. Welcome back Bertha. The law suit referred to is pertaining to 16 people about the former principal of one of Sweetwater's schools. A group of people that stood up against corruption. It is not about Charter Schools. Everyone knows Bertha's son attended aChula Vista Charter School. Know the facts before making statements that are untrue.
Teacher says Says:
The teacher of the year awards are all union backed b.s. There are plenty of educators that work in challenging neighborhoods that have raised test scores and who have had respect from their students and parents over the years. The teachers (especially the ones who suck up to the union) should be the last ones to vote, since they are only in their own classroom and rarely can observe their colleague. Students, the parents, and admin who do walk-throughs should have much more influence on this award.
While the northwest has issues let us not forget the southwestern area. We have tractor trailers, motor homes, homeless living in cars and even 18 wheelers cluttering our streets.
For the life of me, I can not understand all of the 'talking, considering, evaluating - you are the leaders of our fine City - PUT SOME VERBS IN YOUR SENTENCES AND DO SOMETHING.
I can not help but think if I drove a camper and parked it across the streets from the Mayor or Councils homes and left it there, dumping sewage down street gutters something would be done.
To all of those who have been acknowledged for their outstanding efforts, allow me to add my sincerest of THANK YOU's. EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU are making a difference in the lives of this Nations future leaders, never forget that. To many you are more than a 'teacher' - you are inspiration, you are hope, you are a mentor and to some you are the only positive adult role model they have.
As one of community members who worked tirelessly to bring about change in the SUHSD I feel it is important to say 'Ms. Lopez was the ONLY Board member who consistently asked the tough questions and demanded truth in those answers' - EVEN IN THE MIDST OF HER OWN LEGAL ISSUES. She was rebuked and ridiculed by several of her counterparts who saw the communities efforts to restore integrity and transparency as an end to the reign of dysfunction that had plagued SUHSD for years - yet she, alone welcomed the communities demands for change. When you know better, you do better - in my opinion, this is the case with Ms. Lopez.
So she is on the board of a charter school, yet spearheaded personal attacks and lies against someone attempting to start a charter 2 years ago? Guessing Feaster Charter isn't aware of the lawsuit against her. Eventually, they will find out all of the facts.
Iron Jaw Says:
Southwestern Collage Football. Answer this question? Why is your progarm losing good players to schools like Grossmont,Palomar and Mesa? Could it be because after 3 great years of having outstanding football players, that these players got the word out that going to a D-1 school is out of the question! In the last 3 years how many of these outstanding players have you and your coaching staff helped get into one of the better D-1 programs, the answer is ZERO! Now look at the Mesa, Palomar and Grossmont programs, there is your answer, all it takes is a little research and these players do do research, there's the answer. I say SWC is'nt going to have a winning program for awhile, watch and see, these kids work too hard too be forgotten once there two years are up!! Carberry you and your staff know what I'm saying. You like that feeling you had with the winners the last 3 years not including this year, quit taking all the credit and get these kids in good programs or at least help them, the ones I know that are in good programs did it on there own!!
