'Grease' opens at Chula Vista's OnStage Playhouse on April 27 Press Release | Fri, Apr 20 2012 12:26 PM

Throw your mittens around your kittens and kick off the upcoming “Summer Nights” at OnStage Playhouse with the Chula Vista community theater’s rousing spring production of “Grease.”

It’s time for the audience to dust off their leather jackets, pull on their bobby socks and get ready for the most fun-filled, high octane party of the year. It’s the original high school musical, featuring unforgettable songs from the hit movie, including “Summer Nights” and “Greased Lightnin’,” plus songs from the Broadway stage show.

The OnStage production, which runs April 27 to May 26, takes “Grease” back to its working-class Chicago roots with the original script and songs.

Book, music and lyrics are by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The OnStage production is directed by Tom Fitzpatrick, with musical direction by Kirk Valles and choreography by Alisa Williams.

Performance dates are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and
Sunday at 2 p.m.

All seats are priced at $20.

William Henry and Alyssa Anne Schecter lead the cast as Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski.

Schecter returns to OnStage after appearing in this season’s “Moon Over Buffalo” while Henry makes his OnStage debut after a turn in “The Drowsy Chaperone” at Coronado Playhouse.

Leading the Pink Ladies and the Burger Palace Boys will be Meredith Russo (“Into the Woods”) as Rizzo and Michael V. Williams (“Cabaret”) as Kenickie.

The Pink Ladies and Burger Palace Boys include Alan Aguilar as Roger, Manny Bejarano as Sonny, Brian Imoto as Doody, Loraine Odierno as Frenchy, Jennifer Purviance as Jan and Alisa Williams as Marty.

Rounding out the talented cast are Laura Scarafone as Miss Lynch, Daryl Daley as Patty Simcox, Oliver Wilcox as Eugene Florczyk and Carmina Vasquez as Cha Cha DiGregorio.

And appearing as Teen Angel/Vince Fontaine will be the multi-talented Barron Henzel.

Fitzpatrick will helm one of the most ambitious productions OnStage has ever seen, including a live band led by Valles. Due to adult language and content, the show is recommended for ages 15 years and older.
