Savoie to present benefit fund-raiser for Chula Vista Charitable Foundation on June 18 Press Release | Sat, Jun 07 2014 01:43 AM

Savoie, the newest restaurant of the Karina's Group, will present Haute Cuisine & Celebrity Sommeliers for a Cause to benefit The Chula Vista Charitable Foundation, on Wednesday, June 18, from 5 to 10 p.m. Celebrity sommeliers will include local civic leaders, such as Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox, Chula Vista Chief of Police David Bejarano and Chula Vista council members Pamela Bensoussan and Mary Salas.

Other well-known celebrities expected to participate in the event include pro indoor soccer players from the San Diego Sockers, including legend Paul Wright, as well as radio personality Little Tommy Sablan from the Jeff and Jer Showgram, who will mix, mingle and toast with guests to offer a unique and engaging dining experience while raising funds for the foundation. The Karina's Group will donate all proceeds from the event's wine sales to the local non-profit along with 15 percent of the entire evening's sales.

Reservations for the evening can be made online at savoieeatery.com or by calling (619) 591-5757. Walk-ins will also be welcome.

Located at 2015 Birch Road, Suite 720 in the Otay Ranch Town Center, Savoie offers a carefully written French-Italian menu of both affordable, casual fare and gourmet cuisine, with imaginative décor, privately commissioned artworks and indoor spaces that blend into inviting outdoor dining areas.

"The night will be a spectacular celebration for us and our patrons, while incorporating a philanthropic element," explained David Contreras Curiel from the Karina's Group. "There is a French proverb 'Charité bien ordonnée commence par soi-même' which is equivalent to the English saying, 'Charity begins at home.' There is no better cause than one's own community, and we are proud to support the Chula Vista Charitable Foundation through this unique event."

The Chula Vista Charitable Foundation is comprised of a group of individuals who combine their annual charitable giving and direct funds to the current needs of the community. Just completing its fourth grant cycle, the foundation has awarded more than $120,000 to Chula Vista causes and has raised more than $170,000 for a permanent endowment to meet the needs of the community today, tomorrow and in the future.

"Our foundation is made up of local people and businesses giving to local causes, and we are thrilled to be selected as the charity partner for this special evening celebration," Chula Vista Charitable Foundation board chair Michael Meacham said.
