Marketing manager hailed by assemblywoman

Cristina “Tina” Nuñez-Medina has been serving the Otay Ranch Town Center for nearly six years as the senior marketing manager. Her work over those six years has been noticed.

On March 17, Nuñez-Medina was recognized by the California Assembly, which presented her with the inaugural Certificate of Recognition for outstanding service to the Otay Ranch community as a woman business leader in the 79th Assembly District.

State Assembly member Shirley Weber, 79th  Assembly District, selected Nuñez-Martinez over other candidates as the winner for this award.

“This month, in honor of Women’s History Month, I recognized eight distinguished women in my district. Among them was Cristina (Tina) Nuñez-Medina, marketing director of the Otay Ranch Town Center. Tina is a strong, successful woman who has made her community a better place to work and live. I am proud to celebrate a woman leader like

Tina who has passion for and commitment to her community, as well as the other women leaders nominated for their remarkable works in the 79th District of San Diego.”

Nuñez-Medina said she didn’t expect to get such a high honor.

“I was completely shocked,” Nunez-Medina said about the honor. “I was nominated by someone whom I really admire, so it means a lot.”

Zaneta Encarnacion of the Chula Vista Charitable Foundation nominated Nuñez-Martinez for her ability to incorporate the Otay Ranch Town Center with the Otay Ranch community.

“(Nuñez-Martinez’s) ability in transforming the mall to be more than mall, but a community gathering place is a reason why I nominated her,” Encarnacion said. “She defined the mall as an active community partner.”
