Fifty years of Cowboy Artists of America on display at Bonita museum

Beginning in August, the Bonita Museum & Cultural Center will host a special exhibit featuring cowboy art from some of the members of the Cowboy Artists of America, the oldest and most respected association of this genre in the United States. The museum will be celebrating its 50-year anniversary with an amazing show, featuring seldom seen works from private collections.

Works of art by some of the oldest members of the Cowboy Artists of America and guests will be on display from Aug. 5 through Sept, 12. This is a unique opportunity to view these works. Some of the artists include Howard Terpning, Tom Ryan, Martin Grelle, John Coleman, Frank McCarthy, Roy Anderson and John Moyers, among others.

The museum is planning an old time “hootenanny” for the reception. The reception is on Saturday, Aug. 8, starts at 5 p.m. and will showcase the exhibit, a special barbecue dinner and a cowboy balladeer to entertain guests.

A silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind works and special edition prints will help raise money for the programs at the museum. Tickets are available at the museum for $40 each or two for $70. Space is limited, guests are encouraged to buy their tickets early.?Tickets can be purchased online at www.bonitahistoricalsociety.org.
